Seasons happen because of the tilt on the earths axis. The tilt causes the four seasons, winter, summer, autumn and summer. Because of the earths tilt different parts of the globe face the sun at different times throughout the year. So why is summer warmer than Winter? This is because the suns rays hot the earth at a more direct angle than they do in the Winter. In Winter the sun rays hit earth at quite an extreme angle, this makes the days shorter, these affects are due to the tilt of the earths axis.
